Discount Disneyland Hotels on-property and nearby
There are quite a few Disneyland hotels out there including Disney-owned hotels and surrounding hotels know as Good Neighbor Hotels. Picking the right one can be tricky. The Disney property-owned hotel are managed by Disney and really keep you immersed in the Disney experience. You'll also receive that amazing customer service only Disney can offer you.
The other surrounding Good Neighbor Hotels are close by and owned and operated by 3rd parties. Their only "connection" to Disney is the fee they pay to Disney to be considered a Good Neighbor hotel.
Disney Property Hotels
There are there of them and they are fantastic! Having been able to experience each one of them we can recommend them entirely.
Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is deluxe. This is the most luxurious hotel Disney has to offer. A yearly recipient of AAA's 4 Diamond award, this hotel will spoil you for life. The craftsman-style architecture and woodwork is breathtaking. It's an experience in and of itself.
The Disneyland Hotel is a classic. The first property hotel ever built, the monorail use to go directly to it and pick up guests and take them into the park. The hotel is classy and fun all at the same time. The rooms are the best on property. Their monorail slides will have to debating on whether to swim all day or go to the parks. The hotel consists of three towers named after Disneyland Park lands: Fantasy, Frontier, and Adventure.
Tip: Fantasy Tower is the closest to DTD and the Theme Parks followed by Adventure Tower. Staying in these is ideal!
The last property hotel is the Paradise Pier and would be considered a value hotel in our opinion. It's always the cheapest of the 3 to book. The hotel is themed to a boardwalk feel; a Californian sunny beach day you could say. It features a roof-top pool and great views into DCA park.
There are many benefits for staying at a property hotel including proximity to the parks. This is really what you're paying for when you see that these hotels are priced above any off-property hotel. It makes a big difference. Outside of this there are other benefits including:
- Extra Magic Hour which give you early access to one of the parks each day of your visit.
- Key to the Magic Card gives you the convenience of only needing one card to carry around as your hotel room key and your charing card in the parks.
- Preferred Access Reservations for dining and both park boutique's are available to hotel guests only. You still need to call Disney Dining or activities from your hotel room phone to make the reservations and confirm you're a hotel guest.
- Guests at the Grand Californian Hotel have access to a private entrance into DCA park. It's no longer open to all property hotel guests.
- Kid-sitting services are offer at the Grand Californian Hotel. Drop your kids offer for some time away and let the Disney Cast Members keep them entertained with fun activities. $15 per hour with a 2 hour minimum.
- Package Express allows guests to purchase merchandise in the parks and have it sent to their hotel so they don't have to carry it around all day.
And of course there's the whole legendary Disney service thing...

Good Neighbor Hotels
There are a lot of off-property hotels surrounding Disneyland. Many of them are old and worn down, not kept very well. We don't even mention these to you for obvious reasons. Good Neighbor Hotels are properties deemed by Disney to be a great stay. They must apply and be accepted as a Good neighbor Hotel by meeting certain criteria. These are the hotel you want to stay at.
There are several of these hotels too so we're going to list out out top 5 for you. We've stayed at each one of these hotels personally and recommend and review them as such.
Desert Palms Hotel and Suites
For several years this hotel used to be our #1. It's a fantastic hotel that borders DCA park and is within 5 minutes of walking. They have several room options for couples to large families. Some include kitchenette options as well if you like to do home-cooked meals. The customer service here is always friendly and the rooms are always clean. Residence Inn Marriott Convention Center
This hotel is brand new having only opened in Summer of 2016. It's right next door to the new convention center of Anaheim and is our #1 recommended hotel for several reasons. Almost all the rooms are suites that include full kitchens. Only a studio does not include this. Because the hotel is so new so are the rooms (makes sense right?). They offer a roof-top pool with an amazing splash pad area for kids and a gigantic hot tub and pool. There are plenty of lounge chairs to go around.
Their service is incredible and they have a lobby bar that is always serving up some great drinks. Just down from the lobby is a huge breakfast area with lots of places to sit and the best hot breakfast of any hotel in Anaheim. They have meat offerings, fruit, waffles, breads, muffins, juices, and it's all buffet style. This is totally worth the stay alone. You won't want to eat again until dinner..except during the day they offer various flavored waters..amazing!
The hotel is also right next door to a CVS/Pharmacy. The store offers all the grocery shopping you would need for your room and more. It's a 7 minute walk to the parks.
Anaheim Fairfield Inn by Marriott
Marriott sits pretty well with us. Your stay here will be a great one. This hotel is located just across the street from the parks to keep your walking down to a minimum. They have several great dining options in the hotel and just next door including Pizza Hut Express, Panera Bread, and for the not so early risers, Seattle's Best Coffee.
What really makes this property stand out to us is their customer service. If something isn't right they will make it right. If you call down to guest service for something it's at your room within 5 minutes or less. We can't tell you how many times we've stayed at other hotels and they take 20+ minutes to do this. They also have free wi-fi.
aRes Travel has fantastic deals on the Anaheim Fairfield Inn especially when you combined your hotel and discounted tickets together!
Homewood Suites by Hilton
This place will make you feel right at home. Their rooms are very spacious and are all suites so you can enjoy the full kitchen and living room outside of your big bedrooms. They offer free wifi as well as a free hot breakfast and evening social hour at night that includes a light dinner and drinks. They are basically giving you two free meals a day. Nice!
The pools here are great and they accommodate all ages including little kids. They offer free grocery shopping service for those of you who love to fill-up your kitchen and cook. They also have an on-site convenience store that's open 24 hours a day.
There is a drive from this hotel to the parks or you can take their transportation for a fee.
Best Western Plus Park Place Inn & Mini-Suites
This is the closest hotel to the parks that you can get. It's right across the street from the Disneyland Resort main entrance. If features rally great rooms whether you're looking for something standard or a suite. They have free wifi for guests and really great customer service. They understand how important your vacation is and that you're there to have a good time. That really shows.
They do have a free breakfast in the morning and a heated outdoor pool and spa when you need to relax after a long day of walking and standing. They are tons of places to eat within seconds of this place including a Denny's, iHop, Cold Stone, Tony Roma's, and McDonalds. We think you'll really enjoy your stay here as well as their rates.
Tip: After booking your room call the hotel and request fireworks view room. They'll face you towards Disneyland Park and you can enjoy a fantastic show!
Other Ways to Save on Hotels
All of these hotels offer a military rate for active and retired veterans. The rate varies depending on the time of year but it's always worth calling and asking the hotel. It's also available at Disney Property Hotels.
Annual Passholders are typically offered special rates at all 3 Disney Property Hotels, again, based on season. You'll have to call Disney directly for these rates and specials or go online and log-in to your Disneyland.com account. Some Good Neighbor Hotels also offer special rates for annual passholders. It's worth calling them to see if they can lower your price!
